It is normal for boobie cactus to have small scars on them like all plants.
The plant will have little roots. You can easily root these cactus by planting them in well-draining soil and leaving it in indirect sunlight area and very little water. You should start to see root growth within a few weeks.
Plant purchased will be similar to the images shown but may vary in size and color depending on the season.
